Senior Year

Growing up, everyone always said, "Cherish your high school years, because they'll fly by fast. By the time you know it, it'll be senior year." I didn't take them seriously when they said that, but I find myself in that same situation again four years later. I never thought that college would fly by just as fast as high school.

During my freshman year of college, I didn't know what to expect. Going to a new city much larger than the one I grew up in, I was terrified but excited at the same time. It was a whole new adventure that would push me beyond my comfort zone. Looking back, I'm glad I decided to attend a college away from home. I have grown so much since then and I have found myself to be more independent. It's a bittersweet moment of realization knowing that this is my last year of college, but at the same time, I'm excited to see what the next chapter of my life will bring (once I survive senior year of course).

I can already tell that this year is going to be tough. 18 credits, working, senior thesis project and trying to have a social life is rather challenging to balance. I find myself struggling to manage my time wisely, and it's hard getting things done when procrastination is your best friend. But, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, right?

Here's a flashback to a photo of me my freshman year of college. The funny thing is, I thought I was going to be late for school, but I ended up being an hour early. I freaked out for no reason. It was probably just the "new year, new school" nerves kicking in.

Freshman year of college

Now that I'm a senior, I tend to wait till last minute to get to class. Better late than never (though I'm generally only a few minutes late.) There's just something about being a senior that makes me feel less anxious to get to class 10-15 minutes early like I used to. I cared much less about being prepared for school this year when I was getting ready for the first day. I realized that I didn't even look at the class room numbers until I was about to rush to school (a few minutes late, per the usual). Granted, I am lucky that I go to a small private school, so I don't have to walk all over campus to get to my classes.

I am currently in my fourth week of school, and so far I am sort of doing a good job managing my time and keeping up on a decent schedule. Continue to follow me in the next blog where I talk about some of my school essentials. Till next time!
